Things had been going along well until January 2, 2003.
Brodie
developed some swelling above his right eye that virtually closed his eye.
He
was lethargic again. I took him to Redwood Animal Hospital for an exam.
The vet did a corneal stain and saw evidence of possible
corneal ulcers.

The
next morning, his eye was completely shut, so we visited an ophthalmologist.
He
took a needle aspiration and nasal swabs.. No evidence of corneal iulcers
were noted.

I consulted with Dr. Gokhale at WSU and he
recommended that Brodie be seen again.
We made our fifth trip on January
8th and Brodie was seen on the 9th.
An MRI was taken and there was a significant
amount of fluid seen in the right frontal sinus
along with soft tissue density
(which could be scar tissue or possible regrowth of the fungus).
Another
rhinoscopy was performed which did not rveal any fungus, however,
another
intranasal clotrimazole was performed.
On January 30th, Brodie developed a swelling (like
a boil) at his surgery site (between his eyes).
I took him to Redwood
Animal Hospital and they tried to do a needle aspirant of it.
However,
they could not get a sample, so they cut into the swelling and took a tissue
biopsy.
Here's Brodie with the staples that were used to close up the incision.
The tissue biopsy did not reveal anything and Brodie recovered nicely.
